Students who are active and well-nourished are better learners! Minneapolis Public Schools partners with staff, parents, students, and community to prepare students to make healthy choices for themselves. MPS Wellness Policy 6690 is comprehensive and includes standards for daily physical activity and nutritious foods.

Minneapolis Public Schools works in formal partnership with the Alliance for a Healthier Generation to support and assess wellness progress in our school. MPS utilizes the Alliance’s Healthy Schools Program Assessment tool. The percentage of schools reporting fully meeting the criteria has increased in each topic area from 2016/17 to 2018/19. A complete Wellness Assessment report will be completed during the 2019/20 school year.

Want to get involved? Students, families, and community members are all able to participate in the development, review, update, and implementation of the Wellness Policy. Building leaders are responsible for working with staff, students, and families to develop and implement a school wellness plan.
