Loring Community School was recognized as one of America's healthiest schools!

Loring is one of only 461 schools nationwide, and two in Minnesota, to achieve recognition as one of “America’s Healthiest Schools.” The school earned this distinction by successfully meeting a rigorous set of criteria for serving healthier meals and snacks, getting students moving more, offering high-quality health and physical education, and empowering school leaders to be healthy role models.

Active School Day

The CDC recommends children get 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Schools can create environments that encourage movement at all times during the day.

Opportunities to practice skills are critical for development, learning healthy behaviors, and creating a foundation for lifelong health and well-being.

Benefits associated with regular physical activity include:

  • Improved brain health – improve memory, attention, academic performance
  • Improved overall health – stronger muscles, stronger bones, increased level of fitness
  • Improved sleep – increased sleep quality, duration, increased energy throughout the day
