The school nutrition environment can play a critical role by establishing a safe and supportive environment with policies and practices that sustain healthy behaviors. District-wide health initiatives have been implemented to foster healthy eating behaviors among our students.

Smart Snacks In Schools

New USDA standards for snack food and beverages sold to children at school during the school day. Required by the Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010, schools will offer healthier snack foods to children, while limiting junk food. Click here to learn more!

Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program

MPS distributes over 12,500 pounds of FFVP snacks four times a week to students in twenty-six of our schoools!

FFVP provides elementary students with free fresh fruits and vegetables during the school day. Introducing new produce and creating conversation on items in season.
