The state of Minnesota will be issuing Pandemic-EBT (P-EBT) benefits to eligible students for the 2020-2021 school year. P-EBT provides supplemental food assistance to students who have temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price meals at school due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The goal of the program is to make sure no child goes hungry by missing out on school meals.
Your family may be eligible for new EBT benefits to pay for food during the months your student is distance learning.

Who qualifies for P-EBT Benefits?

Students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals may be eligible for Pandemic-Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT). Students must qualify for free or reduced-priced meals through one of the following ways:
  • Submit a qualifying Application for Educational Benefits (AEB) form for the 2020-21 school year, OR
  • Be approved for Minnesota Family Investment Program (MFIP) or Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits, OR
  • Be enrolled in a Community Eligibility School (CEP)
  • AND participates/has participated in a distance-learning or hybrid school schedule.
You can complete your application online by visiting cws.mpls.k12.mn.us/application, or contact your school.  For questions about your Application for Educational Benefits, please contact MPS Culinary & Wellness Services at info.cws@mpls.k12.mn.us.

How will you receive P-EBT Benefits?

P-EBT cards will be mailed using the home address that MPS has on file for your qualifying student. To confirm or update the home address on file, please contact the secretary at your student’s school no later than Friday, February 19, 2021.
